> What is the dashboard for?

The Dashboard gives you a high level overview of what is going on in your media world. This ranges from charts showing your monitoring over the last three days, charts displaying your evaluation over the period you are interested in, and breaking news from Gorkana about Consumer and Financial PR stories.

> Why has the Dashboard changed?

The Dashboard has become vastly more useful, interactive and personalised. It gives you a high level overview of what is going on in your media world.

You can now set up up to 12 Dashboard components or “widgets” via the Personalise panel. Simply press the Personalise button and the panel will slide out to show you what components you can add.

Depending on your service permissions you can set up Monitoring and Evaluation charts on your Dashboard as well as choose to receive Gorkana PR News (Financial and Consumer), RSS news feeds and Twitter feeds from individuals or companies that you want to track. We will be adding more widgets to the Dashboard in the future.

> How do I set it up?

When your dashboard is switched on it will already be set up with some default widgets based on your service entitlements but you may well want to personalise the selection and settings even further. You can amend visible widgets by clicking on the edit icon (pencil) on the top left of each widget.

To add a new widget click on the Personalise button towards the top right of the screen. This will display a panel on which you can see other components that you may want to add. These items will be underlined and clickable. If there is an item that is not underlined and clickable then it means either that you do not take that service (e.g. Evaluation) or that you have already put the maximum number of instances of that widget onto the Dashboard (e.g. Daily News Feed).

> What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and allows you to select news feeds of participating news organisations and display them in your portal Dashboard. Organisations who offer their content via RSS will show the orange RSS symbol on their web site with a link to where to get the relevant web address to use.

> How do I set up an RSS feed on my dashboard?

Simply copy the url (web address) of the feed that you want to add from the source site and paste it into the RSS component on your dashboard. You click on the edit button on the component (i.e. the little pencil icon) to see where you should paste the address. For example if you Google “Reuters RSS” you will find a selection of more than 30 tailored news feeds that you might want to add to your Dashboard. Just copy the relevant url and paste it in.

> How do I set up a Twitter feed on my dashboard?

Simply put in the Twitter handle (username) of the person or organisation you want to track. For example Robert Peston, the BBC business editor is “@peston”. Enter this and hit save and his latest tweets will come through.

> Where is Durrants Plan?

On the new integrated service Durrants Plan has been replaced with a Media Database that uses Gorkana’s in-depth and accurate journalist and Media outlet records. Gorkana is the leading service in the industry so we think you will like the quality of the new data.

In addition to having your login to the separate Gorkana service, through the new release of our website you are now able to view the same data within the new portal. You can click through on journalist or outlet names on your monitoring or do quick searches. If you want to build your lists or do more with the journalist or outlets simply click through automatically to the same record on the Gorkana service. Just click on the blue panel within the journalist or outlet record.

> How do I access Gorkana itself?

There are two ways to access the full Gorkana service. You can login directly to Gorkana with the username and password you have got. However, we have implemented “Single sign on” to all of our services so that if you login successfully to any one of them you can now click through to any of the other services without having to login again.

To link to Gorkana from you’re the integrated portal you can either click on the Gorkana logo at the top of the screen to get to the main screen, or you can click through on the blue panel on any journalist or media outlet record or on the blue panel on the Media Database search screen.

> Is the data on Media Database the same as on Durrants Plan?

No, Gorkana media database is the leading media database in the UK with a tremendous reputation for accuracy and customer service. We know you will be very happy with the change of database provider.

> What is Email Gorkana?

Email Gorkana is an essential part of the Gorkana service. It gives access to a highly responsive team of researchers who can answer any supplementary questions you might have about specific journalists or media outlets. The Email Gorkana link appears on every page of the Media Database service within the integrated portal.

> What changes have been made to the evaluation part of the service?

For users of both Durrants Monitoring and Metrica PR Measurement and Analysis you will be glad to know that you can now chart and view your analysed coverage via the integrated service. This means that you can conveniently view your analysed coverage alongside your monitored coverage to display Metrica analysed campaigns, topics and favourability.

> How do I chart Metrica analysis within the new integrated portal?

There are two areas of the portal where you can chart your Metrica analysed coverage. From the Dashboard you are able to set up specific charts to display the performance of key messages and topics for particular campaigns. You can save these charts as part of your personalised Dashboard view so that you have a daily view of how you are performing on key campaigns and projects.

Alternatively you can create charts on the fly using the Create Report function available from the Evaluation part of the site. Filter your coverage based on your desired view, select the campaign or evaluation category, select your clips and run your reports. Conveniently, you can chart the top 5 or top 10 topics for a Metrica analysed campaign, so you can quickly assess where your PR programme is gaining most traction.
