Pecking order

People often have strong views on the hierarchy of our lists in the journalist database.  Editors first? Desks alphabetically? How should the foreign bureaus fit in.  Perhaps in the Financial Times’ case we should settle it once and for all by listing the journalists in order of the auction price they commanded in the Lunch with the FT ebay auction that finished yesterday.  In which case the FT entry on Gorkana would go Gillian Tett, Merryn Somerset Webb, Jancis Robinson, Lucy Kellaway, Martin Wolf, Simon Schama and then, in seventh position, editor Lionel Barber.
